About Richard Odeleye

Richard Odeleye was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1989 and Ontario bar in 2004.
Richard started his legal career at the then Bendel State (now Edo State) Police command Benin City, Nigeria, in 1989; where he worked at the criminal investigation department as a staff lawyer and later as a police law instructor. There, he gained extensive knowledge of criminal justice, criminal prosecution and defense; experiences that will make him excel as an advocate when he joined the law office of Milton Ohwovoriole, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and later CN Okafor & Co, Barristers and Solicitors, where he became deputy head of the law office and head of litigation department. Richard appeared at all levels of courts including the Supreme Court of Nigeria in both criminal and civil matters. Since being called to the Ontario bar in 2004, Richard has appeared before different levels of court in Ontario and a variety of tribunals. He is a passionate litigator who has over years acquired a robust experience assisting his clients in a variety of legal matters including, representation at Ontario Court of Justice, Federal Court, Superior Court and Court of Appeal of Ontario. Richard also has extensive experience representing clients at various Tribunals in Canada, including the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB), Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) and Refugee Appeal Division (RAD). Richard has assisted many clients in winning their refugee cases, deportation cases, appeals of negative decisions of tribunals, including visa refusals both within Canada and at Canadian Visa posts overseas; re-united families through family sponsorship programs and Humanitarian and Compassionate cases; criminal charges and criminal appeals; he has achieved settlement in malicious prosecution and other civil cases. Above all, Richard believes in integrity and will give you honest and well thought through advice in whatever matter you refer to him.
